I think it just annoys non-American people that because the town is called North Pole, there are likely a number of people who believe that the North Pole is in the US. Which is funny, really. Besides, Santa's clearly a Canadian, he wears red and white, knows how to dress for the cold and is the nicest guy ever!

Although the magnetic north pole does move around but it has not been in Alaska recently. There is a Canadian landmark (nearer to Greenland) where it was recorded about 100 years ago and since then it has been moving north close to the geographic north pole.

Was surprised that Talkeetna wasn't on here. Don't know why I know of it, but thought for sure since I did, that it would be one of the more populated cities.

Funny, other than the Big 3, it seems there's a specific reason that I knew the ones that I did.

Ketchikan - have friends from there

Kodiak - awed to see a Kodiak bear at a zoo I was a kid

Unalaska - once you see this name, you don't forget it

Seward - Seward's Folly

Valdez - Exxon Valdez oil spill

North Pole - again, once you see it...

Barrow - northernmost U.S. city

I pretty much always recognize the humor and sarcasm on this site, except when it's the Quizmaster. For whatever reason I can never tell when he is trying to be funny, and I take everything he says seriously. Maybe I just don't get his brand of humor, but his clever jokes usually strike me as dumb mistakes. Until I try to correct him and he puts me in my place... Sorry, QM!

A "city" of 2,000 people? That's barely a truck stop. I got the top 3, plus one other that was just a random guess. But I should have guessed Sarah Palin's village, and have at least heard of Nome, Barrow, and Valdez before. Seward would have also made sense as a random guess, but the one I got was Kodiak.
