It might be. The others were based on misspellings that had been annoying me for years, whereas this one involves new misspellings that came to my attention during the past quarter.
I never knew about "just deserts". Had to look it up and glad to learn new things. Intuitively I'd spelled that "desserts", but knowing that it has nothing to do with places like the Sahara and Gobi, now it makes more sense.
The "surly" one had me stumped. I think it accepted "sourly"?? But I still don't understand that word. I know that one can be "surly" but couldn't figure out the misuse in this case.
The sentence as presented is wrong because it has an adjective where it needs an adverb. You can't "glare surly" any more than you can "smile happy". Instead you have to glare surlily or smile happily.
Nice series of quizzes :) I entered sourly as well, so thanks for including it as a type-in. Surlily would surely win an award for one of the clumsiest adverbs in the English language. I would say "glared in a surly manner", the way you'd say "smiled in a friendly manner" instead of "smiled friendlily." Surlily shouldn't be a word, even though it is.
Just took all four quizzes in this series and enjoyed them thoroughly. However, I was disappointed not to find a particular peeve of mine - tenant where the user means tenet. Maybe include it here as an addition or substitution (and then feature this quiz).
