The first winner has been chosen! Unfortunately, it looks like the person who was winning deleted their account. (There had been some accusations of vote stuffing - but the quiz was a good one). So we had to choose the #2 quiz. In any case, we'll continue to make an attempt to feature the winner every week.

@ABritishCat: Six months later, now you have not one, not two but THREE quizzes on the nominations board!!! And all three have more nominations than my only quiz on there and most likely my only quiz that will ever be on there, and now it’s starting to fall down the board. So who’s the failure now?

JetPunk isn't just about making quizzes to get features and takes. But if you are looking only at that category, I am the real failure. Anytime that anyone is feeling down on their quizmaking, just know two things:

1. Like most things JetPunk is about the experience. You will earn most of your joy from interacting with the community and/or making blogs. If not, your joy in quizmaking should come from the response and process, not from the takes, nominations, features, etc.

2. I have been on JetPunk since 2016, the same year that Stewart began. I created an account in September of 2020, and began to make quizzes the next month. I have about 70 quizzes, over 10 of which are SVG's that I spent a while either coding or making from scratch in text editor. One of these took months. Even so, I have less than 5,000 takes.

Do I consider myself a failure? No. As said above, this is strictly for the takes and features category, and I enjoy the other portions of JetPunk much better. :)

I think that votes should reset maybe every 2 months, because new quizzes will have nearly no chance of making the top of the list no matter how good they're...

That's true... or a solution might be a way that the nominated quizzes can be better advertised to the general population of JetPunk? I feel like people need to see the quizzes that are on the list and be more inclined to nominate. Maybe show how many nominations a quiz has?

Thank you for this option. There are great quizzes that don't get the attention because they aren't featured. Hopefully it doesn't become a time consuming addition for the site administrators to the point they dread it.

I think it might actually help them. They dont have to delve through all the quizzes and decide which ones to features this week, but instead, just look at what "the people" have decided. Initially setting it up might have taken some work though. But once it gets going

We've featured over 95% of the quizzes that have reached #1. But if some quiz like "Why My Political Party is Right, and Yours is Wrong" gets nominated, we'll put the kibosh on it.

I emailed the user about that and we agreed to create the featured version instead. One problem we are seeing is that highly technical quizzes get a lot of nominations, but few takes. That quiz was an extreme example, with 70 nominations and only 170 takes.

This week we did 5. I'm going to try to feature more of these. It comes down to how much work it requires from me.

Sometimes, quizzes with obvious flaws get to the top of the list. This often requires me to do a lot of work to fix the quiz. In which case, I'll have less time to feature other quizzes.

This week, 4/5 quizzes required absolutely no work from me.

Wait, you make the changes yourself? IMO I would've asked the quiz makers to do it themselves, especially since I've seen a couple of quizzes on some of the other pages that definitely need some updates.

Sometimes we do, but often it's quicker to do it ourselves. Especially when some of the quizzes are from users who are not as active on the site anymore.

That is an incredible amount that would require an equal amount of work from QM/Stewart to make happen. And considering that a current advantage of JetPunk is that there aren't many moderators and site managers to become dependent on, receiving more help seems like a problem. Instead, quizzes should now require 4 nominations to be on the pages.

Seriously Neil give QM time to actually deal with them. It takes time to fix up and feature quizzes as needed. It's been barely 40 minutes since the first one was featured, don't be so impatient.

A question - what would happen if a user got the most nominations at the end of the week but another user had already made the same quiz before them (which had fewer nominations)? Whose quiz would get featured?

I have wondered this myself. If the other user is inactive, I believe the winning quiz would be featured. If the quizzes are identical though and the other user is active, then I guess the Quizmaster would have to make a judgement call on it.

I ask the same question. 3 was a bit disappointing, but 1 is just ...yeah. Maybe the amount of work required to feature quizzes was a lot this week, I don't know. I hope that this isn't the new normal.
