I've watched 7 (well no more than an episode or two except for 2 that I've watched more) and I missed 7 of them completely as in haven't even heard of them (thank god). The missing 6 weren't too hard to guess.
I've seen less than a third of them but still scored 11. Never heard of six of them. I'm surprised at some that didn't appear here. Duck Dynasty would be on my list of those, but my niece loves the show so maybe I'm out of touch.
I would vote for Pawn Stars, American Restoration, Ice Road Truckers, Swamp People, and, especially, Storage Wars... because they ruined one of my favorite channels. I know the latter was originally A&E but I've seen it rebroadcast on History, too.
HBO, Showtime, AMC and Netflix still do some good stuff (and maybe Cartoon Network; Comedy Central used to but pretty sure their time has passed); some of the best shows in television history are being made.... but yes the gems are hidden amidst a sea of reality TV garbage and most of the mainstream networks are all but unwatchable anymore.
Reality TV is all about churning out low-budget garbage programming so if they can fire the writers *and* the wardrobe people, they're saving even more money.
I agree with your category of 'worst' but you could also add Maury and his endless DNA tests; Jerry Springer and his ridiculous fights & foul language; all of the 'housewives' shows and 99% of the current 'reality' shows. I personally do not watch any of them and cannot figure out how they get such high viewing scores.
Funny descriptions. Some great artists did come out of American Idol though but they didn't necessarily win it. I'm thinking of Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry. You should see other countries versions. Some Top 10 or whatever contestants are worse than people who didn't get past the Re-Call of American Idol. I stopped watching the German "DSDS" years ago. In the beginning it was funny how people thought they had it but it got way too bad at some point.
Well it is certainly true that Teletubbies was Godawful, it is incorrect to pin this on America. Although it was broadcast in the U.S., this is a UK show that first appeared on BBC2 and then on CBeebies.
There's some perfectly tolerable UK ones (even ones produced by Ragdoll). Teletubbies (and, more so, In the Night Garden) are, however, godawful drug-fuelled nightmares.
Loved the descriptions! Orange tyrant, hahaha. I got 12, which was a surprise because I've never watched any (most don't air in my country). Somehow I had expected those to be mostly obscure shows but most of them are widely known.
Got 13/18. I haven't heard any of those I missed. The sad thing is that 7 of the rest have been aired in my home country (either translated or with participants from my country). It's good to see that we get la creme de la creme when it comes to reality formats...
Wow...I got them all and have never watched a single season of any of them. I might have watched a season of DWTS when it first started and was a novel idea.
I've watched or seen one episode of seven of them, brief scenes from maybe another three of them. Of the ones that I've watched multiple episodes or seasons, I loved one of them -- Fear Factor. It was a bummer when that one was discontinued. I like Dancing With the Stars -- except for them trying to pass off some of these people as stars. The dancing and pros are enjoyable to watch (half of the time). Walker, Texas Ranger was a train wreck -- I just couldn't turn away matter how bad it got.
Thought for sure I would have seen at least one full episode of one of the shows on this list, but apparently I got away clean! Not great news for my score, though . . .
I tried Toddlers & Tiaras to no avail, apparently there is a whole variety of child beauty pageant reality shows out there (there was also a JonBenet Ramsey special on ID channel, of course).
The "teen girl secret pop star" one confused me, because that also accurately describes Jem. Granted, I wouldn't call Jem the worst, but I'm sure some people would.
Somehow I got all of them but Dance Moms, even though I've never seen most of them. The non-reality show entries seem pretty random and mostly arbitrary to me. While I'm certainly not a big fan of Baywatch or Walker: Texas Ranger, I wouldn't have thought to put either on a list with stuff like Jersey Shore.
I used to love Teletubbies and Hannah Montana (that one's a little more embarrassing)! Also, Chris Hemsworth was once on Dancing With The Stars, and he is not a B-list celebrity.
What's wrong with "The View"? I really liked the few episodes I've seen so far online. Mind you, I've never heard of it outside of those few YouTube Videos, so I might have missed out on some things.
"American Idol" is not a bad show. I have watched it for many years and has inspired me to do what I want. If you want a bad show, put Dora the Explorer on this...
Take a female singer who may actually have a good voice then belt out notes lower than her normal voice and hold them way to long to show "power". Formulaic garbage.
Also "Austin & Ally."
Cringe
