Lots of small laptops are called notebooks. If you clarify the clue to say "small laptop used primarily to surf the web", then I can see netbook being the only acceptable answer. But not as it is now.

These people seem to think there are important differences between laptops and notebooks (see "http://differencebetweenlaptopandnotebook.org"). Notebooks are lightweight and lack many of the features of laptops, according to them. The lingo seems to be in flux.

@Rosen. That link is just Google spam by the looks of it.

They say that a notebook lacks Wi-Fi, modem, and CD-ROM, so it's obviously about 10 years outdated. I don't believe there is any difference between a laptop and notebook.
