That was done just for tourism "branding" purposes. Holland is definitely not the Netherlands, but a part of it. I don't understand how people have such a hard time understanding this.

Darwin actually did recant the theory of evolution before he died and became a Christian he wrote a final chapter of his book where he recants it however the publishers refuse to put it in the book

Nope.

Are you sure that's not just Christian propaganda? I've seen several articles (like in The Times of all places) about how all us atheists actually believe in god or decide to when we know we are going to die. Utter rubbish.
+3
Level 74
Apr 12, 2016
That's a nice conspiracy theory, but The Origin of Species is long out of copyright, so anyone can publish it if they want to, even the select few who have seen this fabled lost last chapter.

Anyway, even if Darwin had reneged on his ideas all that would prove was that he was wrong to think he was wrong - all the work of proving that he was actually right was done long after he was dead.

Level 63

Wrong, The way that science works is that even if a theory is widely accepted as rigorous and logical by the scientific community it can be negated by a deathbed change of heart. The science becomes null and void.

Fun quiz as always, and I do love how much I learn with these because there are always several questions which answers I'd actually always thought to be true. You know, these kind of things you hear idly but never quite bother to check. The falling apple thing, ofr instance, is one I'd heard several times, including by one of my teachers, so I always sort of took it for granted. The burning bras too - again, sort of heard it around but never studied that time period enough to actually learn or verify that it was true. (I always thought it was a very stupid thing to do though considering how bloody expensive the things are so I'm glad :-D)
