The size of the country made the answer rather obvious, but I'm still trying to figure out exactly where Russia touches the Atlantic. Is the Baltic one of the marginal seas you include?

Could be Baltic or Black sea. I added Baltic Sea to the caveat.

The term 'marginal sea' simply refers to a sea that is adjacent to an ocean.

A MARGINAL SEA is "a division of an ocean, partially enclosed by islands, archipelagos, or peninsulas, adjacent to or widely open to the open ocean at the surface, and/or bounded by submarine ridges on the sea floor" (Wikipedia). Such seas are typically at the edges, or margins, of an ocean. It has nothing to do with the alternative meaning of marginal (i.e., "of secondary or minor importance").

As others stated, the term "marginal sea" has a specific meaning.

Marginal sea: a division of an ocean that lies along a continental edge and is partially separated from the open ocean by islands, peninsulas, land ridges, etc.: for example, the Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Philippine Sea, and Bay of Bengal.

It does not mean that the sea is insignificant as your comment would seem to imply.

The Mediterranean is not usually considered part of the Atlantic. Although there is a direct connection via the Strait of Gibraltar, the Men is not tidal and is not affected by any currents from the Atlantic.

Maybe specify that you aren't including overseas territories, otherwise I'm guessing Denmark would be on here for Greenland??

Greenland is not an overseas territory, it's an autonomous part of the Kingdom of Denmark. The KoD is constitutionally defined as a unitary state and the powers the Greenlandic Self-Government has are devolved from the Danish parliament (the Folketing). It's constitutional status is comparable to Scotland within the UK.

I really feel like Denmark should be included in this as Greenland borders it. And if you'd rather not count Greenland as Denmark you should still include Greenland as its own country.

If we never include overseas territories and never let them be in the quizes on their own, how are we suppossed to learn abouth them?

Norway pretty much entirely borders the Atlantic ocean? Coastline is 25.148km, while Mexicos coastline on the Atlantic side is 2805km..

Remember, this is biggest countries bordering the Atlantic. Norway only has an area of 385,207 km2, so it doesn't make the cut. It's the same reason that, say, none of the Caribbean islands are on here.

I am so freaking confused by the criteria for this quiz. How does Colombia border the Atlantic but Venezuela, Guyana, and Suriname do not? Not to mention Uruguay. This makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Having a quiz actually makes sense is key. So, poor quiz, imo.

After a long day of working in the quiz mines, I head to the bar with the other quizmasters to drink away our sorrows. Frank looks like he's going to snap. "What's wrong?", I ask.

"Nobody reads the quiz description. Heck they don't even read the frickin' TITLE. They just comment without the slightest clue what they're talking about".

I sigh. It's a feeling I know all too well. I drain my beer and head home to my wife and seven children, who haven't seen their father in several days. Life feels devoid of all meaning. I signed up for this, but I still rue the day when I chose to become a quizmaster.

I'll never really understand how there are so many people on this site who apparently just... don't read the quiz titles or descriptions and then, when the quiz doesn't work the way they are expecting, just decide to get angry in the comments rather than actually check back and see if there's anything they might have missed. In large print. At the top of the page.
