Surprised Day of the Jackal is not so well known. Book and film were excellent.

For me, I was stuck on plethora of movie titles that also use the "Day of the _____" construction regardless of whether or not they were animals.

I wonder how so few get Darwin's book? Maybe they aren't looking at the author's name?

People know The Origin of Species and the theory of evolution more than knowing the name of his boat...

I would never have gotten it without the author's name. But, yeah, I'm actually impressed that 27% know the name of his boat.

Anyone who didn't know that one should watch the Horrible Histories song. "So I joined HMS Beagle, watched the eagle and the seagull..."

Clearly people haven't been to Patagonia. There are extensive topographical references to the Beagle and those on board. Ushuaia sits on the Beagle Channel. Argentina's most iconic mountain (sorry Aconcagua), Monte FitzRoy in Santa Cruz Province of Argentine Patagonia, is named after the captain of the Beagle. Monte FitzRoy notably appears on the logo of the Patagonia clothing company. The Alerce or Patagonian Cypress that makes up a lot of the temperate rainforests of more northerly parts of Chilean Patagonia belong to the genus Fitzroya. FitzRoy went on to be a Rear Admiral of the Royal Navy and founded the Met Office, but it all started when the captain of the Beagle shot himself and FitzRoy took over as acting captain during an expedition charting Tierra del Fuego. Of course FitzRoy and the Beagle are mainly remembered today for taking a young clergyman in training, Charles Darwin, on board. Overlooking the Beagle Channel is the spectacular Darwin Cordillera.
