I'd suggest getting rid of the salad clue or the shoemaker clue as I didn't know 'cobb' but knew 'cobbler' and it automatically gave me 'cobb' as that answer has the same first letters...

No reason to get rid of it. It's a twofer, kind of like Dominica and Dominican Republic. Enjoy the freebie!

I didn't know Cobb, but da-dah! it popped up when I did the other answer. I prefer quizzes that don't let you fluke freebies like that.

Yeah except those are all two distinct items in a distinct list. It's not like the QM can rename a country. Here, the QM has the freedom to make the answers whatever they want.

It is in the right order in the quiz, but I didn't read them in that order anyway so I was a bit surprised when I tried to type in the shoemaker and got another answer.

Oh, if it didn't make it across the pond, that'd be a shame! It's a comic, about childhood, and the cheekiness of little boys. And tigers. :-) Google "Calvin and Hobbes".

Why do people always feel the need to say "is it some American thing" in such derogatory way about something, just because they themselves never heard of it?

No one calls policeman Bobbies in Britain btw, but it's a well known trope at least.
