It is not clear that Charles Goodyear invented vulcanized rubber. It may have been Thomas Hancock.

That moment when you realize:

De Gaulle = Gaul = France

His name is literally Charles of France

*insert Saint Martin joke*

But yeah, sadly the joke is a bit far-fetched due to spelling and grammar.

Charles Bronson is missing.

Why is he missing? Why do you (and many others) think you can dictate who or what should be in other people's quizzes? Believe it or not, it's not about you!

I remembered that A Tale of Two Cities was set in France, so I didn't even bother guessing English authors. If I had remembered that one of the "two cities" was London, that would've helped.

I think Dickens being one of the most famous authors in recent history helps, too. I guessed him before even reading the questions!

It was the best of quizzes. It was the worst of quizzes.

The questions were so easy. The questions were so hard.

The quizzers were so smart. The quizzers were so stupid.

The quizmaster was always right. The quizmaster was never right....

Well you see there are a large number of people who heard about Charles Ponzi from a slightly smaller group, who had heard about him from a smaller group, who had heard about him from a smaller group. It's kind of like a triangle.

Ponzi schemes make the news far more frequently. Here's a depressingly long list of recent frauds:

I'd also be curious to find out how well known Chuck Yaeger is known outside of the US.

I suspect age is a factor as well. The Right Stuff came out almost 40 years ago (1983). For those old enough to remember that and the related publicity, Yeager is seared into our consciousness. Not sure how many younger people have even seen the movie or read the book (or remember the ads he did after the movie).

A pyramid shceme involves recruiting people to recruit others to make money. Ponzi schemes involve borrowing money, and paying it off (at exorbitant rates) from others, and the scheme is only sustained through new lenders.

This quiz sucks. Most of the people you chose are totally irrelevant. I was hoping to be represented with someone from my country, Sweden, since we have had several Karl as kings.
