The story goes that, after St. Basil's was completed, Ivan the Terrible asked the architect whether he would be able to build the same cathedral in another city. "Of course, your excellency," he replied. So Ivan had his eyes put out to prevent him from doing just that.

There are at least two or three cathedrals in St Petersburg that are prettier and more impressive than St Basil's. In my opinion St Pete's is probably the most beautiful city in all of Europe. Prettier than Paris, Prague, Vienna, Moscow, Amsterdam, Rome, Kiev, or Venice for my money. Though I've never been to Spain.

If you're talking about the Church of The Savior on the Spilled Blood (awesome name by the way), I agree that on the inside its much more impressive. All the mosaics inside are just unreal. But on the outside I thought that St. Basil's was better looking. maybe I am biased since The one in St. Petersburg had some renovations outside when I visited. Anyhow, Russia is filled with some of the best pieces of architecture in Europe IMO. Kazan even has a mosque.

@nonono That's debatable and probably depends where you come from. I knew Rabbie Burns but I've never heard of Montgomery Burns.

My first thought was Dunedin, where I grew up, which has a monument to Robert Burns in the centre of town. Then it occurred to me that Edinburgh was likely to have one too.

There is a Hermitage Museum in Nashville (home of former President Andrew Jackson). Also, I think the Burns Monument is in Kilmarnock.

I agree, are Graceland and the rocky statue worthy of being on this quiz, I can safely say that I have never heard of them and wouldn't recognise them when showed a picture of them.

What an ignorant comment! If you keep doing World-wide quizzes where 7/24 answers come from just one country (US) when you have about 196 to choose from, then of course you will keep getting this complaint. If you've read it 347 times, then it's probably because you have attempted at least 347 US-biased quizzes.

Burns Monument? Do you mean the Scott Monument that looks over Princes St from Princes St Gardens in Edinburgh? The statue at the base of the tower is of the writer Walter Scott, not Robert Burns.

Wow, 7 of these are located in the US and I don't think the Statue of Rocky or Graceland are as important/well-known as the Eiffel Tower or the Wailing Wall for example. Maybe make the list a little less US-centric next time?

There are a lot of famous cities with a lot of famous landmarks in America. 7 of these answers are from there, while 8 answers are in Europe. Nobody is complaining that the quiz is slanted toward Europe, though.

Knew everything except for the Burns Monument. I guessed Springfield for that one, next to the Smithers Memorial Bench. I've personally been to all but 4 of these places.
