His father Jor-El and mother Lara (Lor-Van). Where females take their fathers full name as a maiden name but are typically just referred to by their first name.

I had no idea that anybody knew where kirk was from on earth. I guess I shouldn't underestimate trekkies. but I definitely wasn't expecting that one.

McGruff's first name is not Scruff. Scruff is his nephew.

You're right. McGruff has no other name that I can find. Wikipedia lists his nephew Scruff as his only family.
