Kennedy isn't her middle name. It is her maiden name.

My wife took her maiden name as her middle name once we got married. Jackie O did the same, except instead of her true "maiden" name, she kept her name from her previous marriage.

ctleng76, it's actually not her maiden name at all. Her maiden name was Bouvier.

"Kennedy isn't her middle name. It is her maiden name." Really? I thought it was Bouvier.

Most of these middle names sound more like surnames than middle names to me. Are a lot of them double-barrell surnames ?

A lot of middle names were surnames from relatives, sometimes on the mother's side.

Question. Why isn't Henry David Thoreau on this list?

By the way, Jean-Paul and Jean-Jacques and are both a combination (hence the use of the dash) that forms a first name. Paul and Jacques are not middle names here. In fact we usually have no middle names in French.
