I got 15/20. I'm surprised about Buenos Aires. You learn something new everyday. :)

If you remember, there was a bomb planted at a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, possibly with the support of the Iranian regime. Which is a good sign (unfortunately) of a significant Jewish population. Add to that the anti-Semitic fixation of the junta that held power in the 1970s and that imprisoned Jewish journalists such as Jacobo Timerman. While it doesn'r require a sizeable Jewish population to support anti-semitism (see modern Poland as an example), it's a good marker.

There is actually virulent hatred toward Jews growing all over the world today, and more often than not it seems to be growing in places where there are few to no Jews left as they have been killed or chased away. In Europe it's as bad it has ever been since the end of WW2, and the once robust Jewish communities there have never recovered since the Holocaust- most are completely gone; all over the Muslim world it's worse than it has ever been, and since 1948 open hostility toward Jews has convinced all but a handful to leave these places. Communities with roots stretching back hundreds or thousands of years were displaced.. they all ran to the US or Israel or Canada as seen here. But hatred of Jews continued to grow even after all the Jews left. Now you have people who typically have never met a Jewish person before in their life, convinced that all Jews are some monstrous caricature. I should know. I live in Saudi Arabia. No Jews here. Hateful things in the paper every day, though.

Surprised more Israeli cities aren't on the list. Ashdod for example, more than 200,000 in population and I would imagine mostly Jewish.

about half the population of Israel is Muslim or other religions, though.

I remember talking to this guy at the jewish cemetery in Warsaw. He was saying very few Jews live in Warsaw... or Poland overall.

well, yeah, now.. the guy before you was making the point that there might be a lot there if they weren't all killed or chased away. There were huge Jewish communities in Germany, Poland, etc. prior to the Holocaust. Some Muslim cities like Tehran, Alexandria and a few others might have also make the list except for the huge displacement of Jews from Arab/Muslim lands following 1948. But then again we could play this game all day as Jews have been getting chased out of their homes pretty much for as long as there have been Jews.

I'd be curious to see where the quizmaster got this information from. Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa - there is a very large Jewish community, so much so that there are a number of Jewish schools all over. Not saying the figures are wrong, I'd just be interested to see how large the Jewish population in Johannesburg is.

Take a look at this website - http://www.citypopulation.de/Israel.html
Non-Jews are about 15-20% of the total population, but the overwhelming majority live in one of the 3 major urban areas (Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa) or in urban areas with minimal numbers of Jews (Nazareth, for instance).
