Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire and is now the capital of Italy.

Rome, at the time of Spartacus, was a city/state like Athens and Sparta. There was no "country of Italy" then. So, Bob's point that "technically, it took place in Rome, not Italy" is 100% accurate. That is not a "technicality", Wildman, it's a fact and I suggest that several of you learn some of those before you criticize other posters.
