The Hermitage is also a museum in Nashville. It was the plantation of Andrew Jackson.

There's a Hermitage in Amsterdam as well

This was going great, and then it all went a bit American... :(

You have to remember that this is an American web site, so it is expected that most of the answers are American.

Yes, Nashville should be acceptable for The Hermitage...it is part museum, located in Tennessee, and was the former plantation of the 7th President of the USA, Andrew Jackson. I wasn't even aware of the other one until I took this quiz, and kept spelling Nashville again and again in vain. If you won't accept it, at least add a note at the top that says NOT Nashville, otherwise most Americans will be just as puzzled that it won't work as I was.

The Hermitage (the one in Russia) is one of the 10 great museums of the world. Personally, I don't think the quizmaster has to add any notes to explain he doesn't mean the one in Tennessee!

The Hermitage in St Petersburg is like the Louvre or Prado. Needs no explanation. And didn't they open up a new "branch" of the guggenheim in Basque country?

Yeah. The Guggenheim in New York may be better known to Americans, but the Guggenheim in Bilbao is a much large part of that city's image.

Oh come on... more than 1/2 of these are American. Have you seen the museums of Europe? They leave most of those American ones for dead. Couldn't you just call the quiz "American museums"?

The Guggenheim in New York is much more famous than the one in Bilbao, just as the Hermitage in St Petersburg is far more famous than any similarly-named museum in the USA.

Apparently there are 6 Guggenheims, all operated by the Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation. I was unaware.
