Hard to say. The title is Eagles, but they are consistently referred to as "The Eagles" in the text. I'm going to file this one under doesn't matter.

It's really not that important but ... they refer to them as the "Eagles" not "The Eagles", so it's for grammatical reasons.

The "Eagles" thing is worth bringing up because it is a testament to the many innovative ways that band finds to be hateable.

Like everything involving the Eagles there are disagreements by the bandmembers regarding whether or not "The" is part of the name. Felder said it is as did Steve Martin who was good friends the members when the changed their name from Teen King to Eagles. Glenn Frey insisted there was no "the".

I wouldn't say it doesn't matter, because there is a difference between both names. 'The Eagles' is suggesting that each member is an 'eagle'.

I was really hoping I'd try to have to try to spell "Englebert Humperdink". So, I just googled, and found he's "Engelbert Humperdinck". Just the two mistakes then...

I am highly suspect about Édith Piaf correctly guessed 60% of the time. (2-23-2020) Not a household name.

And not really in the same crowd as the others. While the other acts listed are from various countries, they were all popular on American radio stations. Edith, not so much. I get that not all the answers should be easy, but Edith is a bit of an outlier. And I really doubt that she more popular than Elvis Costello or Ellie Goulding who were guessed less often.

Odd choice to include and it is unusual that she would score that high.

I didn't know she was a singer, but I know the movie La Vie en Rose is about a woman named Edith Piaf, so I guessed based on that. I'm sure plenty of other people have seen that movie.

Her name rang a vague bell, but I wouldn't have gotten her in 100 tries.

Whenever I hear "La Vie en Rose", all I can think of is Eileen Brennan in "The Cheap Detective". :-)

"Non, je ne regrette rien" was heavily featured in the movie "Inception". It was the trigger to wake them all up. Don't know if it really helps with Piaf's name recognition, but maybe. And Marion Cotillard did win an Oscar for her portrayal of Piaf in "La vie en rose", so there you have it.

It used to bug me, but there's really no other way. Bowie is of course cut and dried B, but what Elton John (would you really file under "J"?), or Person X and the Band Y. As long as there's consistency I've got no issue.

I don't know enough song titles so I do better on these quizzes just guessing every random musical act starting with that letter I can think of. However, I find the fact that it goes by first names rather than last names makes it more difficult.

So? They were still a band who recorded those songs. I'm pretty sure Elvis isn't making much new music these days, either.
