Decrescendo is not the correct Italian meaning which is why that answer is not correct for this quiz.

This is a breeze for musicians - it might be fun to make a harder one.

I agree with those that say decrescendo should be accepted. That's what I've always heard it called in my choral classes.

decrescendo and decelerando should both be accepted. I've been a musician my whole life, and while they may not be technically correct terms, musicians still know what you mean when you say them.

I think decrescendo should be accepted, and ensemble for tutti.

Wow. It's only been half a year since I last played, and I already forgot like half of these. Plus I fumbled on the spelling of Mezzo...

Agreed- especially, decrescendo should be accepted for diminuendo. That's how I have mainly referred to it.

Read the instructions: it says guess the Italian word, ensemble is a French word.

decrescendo should be accepted for diminuendo, although I know both also rallentando for ritardando
2012-04-20 | reply
The way I learned it in chorus, decrescendo meant "to get softer" while diminuendo meant "to gradually get softer". In other words, diminuendos take longer. If you make another one, how about including sforzando?
