Killing isn't an answer because it isn't one of the seven deadly sins as described in the bible.

The bible actually doesn't list them. The seven mortal sins ('deadly' is the common, but less precise, translation) are enumerated and expounded on in Dante's Divine Comedy--Purgatorio if I remember correctly.

They are listed in the Hebrew bible eg. Though not as one-word-terms.

By the Hebrew Bible, do you mean the Torah? I don't recall reading them there, but I could be mistaken. Do you have the reference?

No. It shouldn't. Glutton is not one of the seven deadly sins. It's a person who commits gluttony.

jealousy should work for envy

jealousy and envy are different things Jealousy: fear that you will lose something you already have (for example, a guy is hitting on your girlfriend, you are jealous of him because you worry he will make you lose your girlfriend) Envy: Desiring something you do not have (for example: if your friend gets to go to a concert tonight, you might be envious of him because you want to go but cannot)

it should be avarice for greed

I think Vanity should be accepted for Pride and Avarice should be accepted for Greed

Some of the acceptable ones should be the following. PRIDE: Vanity. ENVY: Jealousy. WRATH: Anger. SLOTH: Laziness. GREED: Avarice, covetousness. LUST: Fornication. GLUTTONY: Overeating, maybe. The Latin names for each sin, in case anyone was wondering (which you probably weren't), are superbia (pride); invidia(envy); ira (wrath); acedia (sloth); avaritia (greed); gula (gluttony); luxuria (lust). Also, in case anyone was wondering, the order of the sins from most to least deadly are: pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, lust.

fornication is like the opposite of lust.

the seven deadly sins are a specific set as laid out in the catholic faith....a lot of these synonyms you all want to be accepted are rightfully NOT accepted. while they mean NEARLY the same thing....anger and wrath are not the same, nor are envy and jealousy the same. Lust is a WHOLE LOT more than just fornication and gluttony can refer to MUCH MORE than just overearting. i say leave it as it is!

Anger, jealousy, avarice, fornication (? really? for lust?) etc. should not be acceptable. This is not a synonyms quiz.

Actually "avarice" is as good or better a translation of the Latin original. Avaricia = greed Superbia = pride Luxuria = lust (I believe that lechery is derived from luxuria, but i could be wrong) Gula = gluttony Ira = wrath ("ire," on the other hand, doesn't convey the ferocity of "wrath") Accedie = sloth Invidia = envy Coming soon: a quiz all in Latin. Which still won't be as hard as that Polish geography quiz.

I just thought of all the Spongebob characters... Supposedly, each one was based off of a different sin. (Mr. Krabs = greed,Patrick = sloth Sandy = pride, ect.)

Took me almost the entire time to get greed :p
