23/38. It's tough because of all the percussion instruments like Guiro and Whip.

not included the contrabass? And I thought the oboe was the English horn. Nice quiz!! thanks for posting!

I usually think of "double bass" as just "bass." Even bass fiddle or bass violin I use more often. Cymbal? singular form? can that be accepted? I was aghast when "cymbal" did not work. Even tried "suspended cymbal" and still didn't work.

and saxophones! orchestras don't use those? I guess that's just band/wind ensembles then. oh well.

Feel a bit rorted by lack of leniency in typing - I entered 'bongo' 'conga' and 'cor anglais' to no avail. Who in an actual orchestra calls it an English horn anyway?
Quizmaster replies:
Thanks for the suggestion. I've actually never heard it called a Cor Anglais before. Bongo and Conga (singular) will work now too, as well as Cor Anglais.

@acer9199 you'll only find saxes in really modern orchestral pieces.

The oboe is most definitely not the English horn. 32/38, because of that percussion section! There's a reason I don't like percussionists.

Well, I put "guira" because I didn't know there was a difference between a guira and a guiro. The guiro is the one orchestras typically use. You learn something every day! :-)
