Hello - I put in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" which is the title of the musical NOT "Drood" and your quiz didn't accept it? Really? Nor did it accept "Raisin in the Sun" for "Raisin" which again is the musical's name - REALLY? At least get the proper titles right, and have them ACCEPTED. Putting them down wrong, and then penalizing someone for getting them correct is just not nice.

Having a rough day? Raisin in the Sun absolutely would have worked. The long version of Drood will work now too.

Well, technically the musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood was rebranded as Drood, so both answers are correct (much like Seussical, The Musical was later shortened to simply Seussical). Also, Raisin is the correct title, the PLAY is called A Raisin in the Sun. So, I know that your post was in 2013, but hopefully you've calmed down by now and realized your error. :)

There are a bunch of super popular critically acclaimed and long-running shows not on here... I wonder what they all lost to, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Yeah, I'm surprised how many shows that win do not become the shows with the most longevity.

If you're still interested... Wicked lost in 2004 to Avenue Q, Miss Saigon to Will Rodgers Follies, West Side Story to The Music Man, Chicago losing to A Chorus Line (It did win Best Revival however), Oliver! lost to A Funny Thing Happened in 1963, Grease lost to Two Gentlemen of Verona, both Dreamgirls and Joseph lost to Nine. I'm sure there are more but I don't want to bore anyone

Thanks that was informative. Another one I was wondering about was Oklahoma!, so I looked it up and apparently that one is so old that it predates the Tony Awards. It did recently win best revival, though.

Now to track down how Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark got snubbed...

Thank you CunnyBunny, you saved me looking up those very seven. Along with Jesus Christ Superstar and a couple of others.

It's a shame that all kinds of art forms are snubbed in any award system just because they are popular with the general public.

Boy, this is really not my category. I thought 22 answers was pretty good for someone who only ever hears about Broadway shows second-hand. Sadly, it landed me in the 35th percentile. Fail.

I scored 19 for 28%, but with the new scoring system I gained four points because it beat nearly 90% of test takers.

I only got 5, I couldn't believe it when it said i'd beaten 34% of people! Glad I wasn't the only one who thought this was ridiculously hard. I was putting stuff like Grease! haha

Otherwise known as "I'm guessing every musical I remember our high school putting on when I was a kid." Then moving on to "every musical I can remember being made into a decent movie". Managed about 15 that way. :-)

I'm quite surprised to see that (as of the time I took this quiz) Cats was the most commonly guessed musical with 88%... I know its ALW and he's fantastic I just wasn't so sure it was that popular! Understandable seeing Les Mis, Phantom and Sound of Music so high

Hard to believe West Side Story lost out to The Music Man--not that The Music Man was all that bad, but it was no West Side Story (in my opinion). Others I'm surprised didn't win: Oklahoma, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair.
