Although the Severn doesn't 'pass through' Bristol, the city council authority borders the Severn at Avonmouth, so I'll allow it

... but Bristol is still definitely not the largest city on the Severn.

My strategy didn't work very well....I figured I'd try the rivers that have a city name "on" or "upon" them. I guess Tyne, Kent, and Hull aren't long enough. I also tried Cam from Cambridge, but it didn't make the cut either!

I thought the Mersey would be on here (having the whole county of Merseyside named after it) but it must be shorter than I thought.

The biggest city on the Severn is actually Gloucester. It passes near Bristol but not through it - the Avon and Frome do though. If you want to have a guess at more British rivers you might like to try http://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/33982/rivers-of-great-britain

I found the towns/cities less than helpful! especially MK

I found some of them helpful, like Northampton. I wouldn't have tried the Nene if that hadn't been there.

Bristol is still on there for the Severn, which does not pass through Bristol. Bristol is on the Avon! The Severn passes through Gloucester!

I agree. I'm currently in Bristol and can definitely say that the River Severn does not go through this city. The largest city on the Severn is still Gloucester. Also, why not include the distances in miles? It is a UK quiz after all and that's still the normal method for measuring distances here.

Personally I didn't find seeing the cities very helpfull, that requires extra knowledge. People might have heard of some rivers, but to know where they are is an extra step, those who know that much, could do without the hint anyway obviously (though ofcourse it can help as a reminder to make sure you havent skipped any). I would suggest giving the first letter.

On the plus side, it ís more educational this way (but on the downside, I probably wont remember it haha)

I had no idea there were two River Dees (Rivers Dee?). I clearly need to brush up on my Scottish geography.
