So does Tom Brady!

Remember that year that Brady missed - when the Patriots went 11-5 under Matt Cassell? And remember that year Peyton missed, when the Colts were the worst team in the league (a 2-14 season, after 9 straight double-digit win seasons)? I'm sure there's a lesson in this if I just look hard enough.

Remember that time when Tom Brady led his team to 6 superbowls and won 4 Superbowl MVP's? Remember that time when Peyton Manning won only 2 superbowls and he totally sucked in the second one and only won due to the Broncos defense but got completely annihilated in two other superbowls? I'm sure there's a lesson there.

Football is a team sport that is heavily influenced by coaching. Tom Brady has had the benefit of having one of, if not THE, greatest coaches in NFL history for the entirety of his career. Peyton Manning's head coaches, on the other hand, were routinely outcoached.

tshalla points out are rare but particularly accurate barometer of an individual player's actual worth to his team. Brady's absence was barely noticed in New England, whereas Manning's absence was catastrophic for Indianapolis. Only fanboys or agenda-driven talking heads attempt to discredit Peyton Manning. No one in NFL coaching circles does. Ever. Because they know better than empty-headed, emotional fanboys.

Though the Giants won two Super Bowls since 2000, their records in those seasons were 10-6 and 9-7, and their median number of regular season wins since 2000 iis exactly eight. Very average.

The Giants have won 4 Super Bowls which matches the Patriots and Packers. They played in 3 Super Bowls during the time period targeted by this quiz and won 2 of them. Sounds "good" to me.

So the Patriots' deflating footballs gets your moral outrage up. How about the Steelers' offensive line in the 1970s pioneering the usage of steroids, which was the worst-kept secret in the NFL at the time? Does that make you discount those 4 Super Bowls they won?

As a Lions fan, I have lost all hope so I can say fairly objectively that the Patriots have simply outplayed and outcoached everyone for a long time, and it has little to do with cheating. In the same season as the "Deflategate" scandal, Aaron Rodgers commented about how he liked to overinflate the football. No one cared that the inflation standards were not being followed. It's just sour grapes. If you want to get outraged about something, be outraged by the Saints coach who was paying players to injure members of the other team.

I think it's because otherwise people who know nothing about the NFL, beyond that it's based in large US cities, would do well on a quiz like this. OK, less well on this one because of New England, and it might take a day-and-a-half before you got to Green Bay, but I think that's the general thought.

The old anti-Brady comments look awfully dated in 2021. And I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Deflategate. The goofiest "controversy" of all time. With underinflated footballs = NE 17 IND 7. With normally inflated footballs = NE 28 IND 0. Good thing Brady "cheated" in the first half, otherwise the Pats would have beaten the Colts by 8 TD's instead of 5.

It's amazing to see all these people still bash Tom Brady to this day even though there's never been any actual evidence that he (or anybody for the matter) deflated balls. People hate him so much that they would believe any claim to deligitimize him at this point.

I despise and I mean DESPISE Tom Brady. However, I have accepted the fact that he is the GOAT (at the moment; c'mon Patrick Mahomes). No matter what, whether it be a season-ending injury or a scandal, he always bounces back. Begrudgingly, everyone has to understand that he truly is the greatest.
