And luxembourg, eventhough it is relatively small, it isnt a microstate.

I assume you mean microstates btw, micronations is something else. The sole definition of those is that they actually are nót accepted sovereign states. I can declare my backyard as a micronation. I'll make my cat the mayor.

Andorra is very easy to forget. I only remember it because of Geography Now.

I don't think Vatican deserves to be it's own country. The university I went to had almost 50 times as many students enrolled as the Vatican has citizens....

It is to separate the church from any national politics. Legally, Jerusalem was an independent city under administration of all other countries (the United Nations) for the same reason, but Israel occupied it and settled it very heavily to try to be able to claim they shouldn't be forced to leave.
