Somalia caught my attention, too. It could be the war is loosening grip, and optimism has grown. But I just do not know, other than that Somalia was in the 5th place of African countries. Nigeria was sixth.
I honestly doubt that the World Happiness Report has anything to do with happiness. Somalia is one of the happiest countries in Africa, ahead of Seychelles, Botswana, South Africa, etc. Also, maybe some people are happy in such an orderly country, like Switzerland or Singapore, but I personally find them to be lacking in happiness. I guess happiness is subjective, but this report doesn't cover it well.
Thanks for your comments. Here is a link regarding happiness in African nations: http://worldhappiness.report/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/03/HR17-Ch4_w-oAppendix.pdf
The whole country name, United Arab Emirates, would have been too long for one line. UAE is also very well known abbreviation. Hopefully that answers your question.
