Half the area of Maine is unpopulated. I don't mean small town, I mean 200 people within one 10,000 square mile patch and other great empty swaths. Oregon likewise has large empty areas. So how do they give precise, right to the single nest numbers like someone's keeping track up every tree in the woods no one goes to, let alone someone who's going to bean count? At least Alaska's a meh number.
