Quite similar, but not the same. One is oil (mayo) based; the other is milk/yogurt based. Nevertheless, I agree that either answer should be an acceptable response.
I'm really confused as to why these two dressings would be considered the same. One is light orange and the other is dark, almost like French dressing.
And 1000 Island tastes nothing like Russian at all. Russian is sort of spicy.
Maybe in different parts of the country it's made differently.
Agreed! Thousand Island and Russian are different but unfortunately are often considered interchangeable. Thousand Island is gross and Russian is delicious. ....the little islands are relish....bleck:)
NPR did a radio special on Ranch Dressing called "It's Official: Americans Are Floating In A Pool Of Ranch Dressing": https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2014/04/01/297704835/its-official-americans-are-floating-in-a-pool-of-ranch-dressing
While looking for the link I came across a fountain you can buy for Ranch dressing. A fountain. Surely this is a sign of the apocalypse. http://www.kissradio.ca/2017/03/15/can-now-buy-ranch-dressing-fountain/
The phrase "honey AND mustard" implies that those are the only two ingredients, whereas "honey mustard" implies the primary ingredients of a salad dressing that also includes vinegar and olive oil.
And YES, in restaurants, it is traditionally called "Honey Dijon".
The phrase 'honey mustard' implies that there is a type of mustard called honey mustard. Dijon mustard, English mustard, wholegrain mustard, honey mustard.... what the hell is honey mustard? Honey AND mustard implies more clearly that they are the two separate, primary ingredients in the dressing.
LMAO I missed all the ones that were from countries.. *facepalm* I was trying sour cream and onions /chives etc.. Im such an idiot sometimes, however I never use salad dressings.. Im weird
This argument is getting old. Don't take a quiz on North American salad dressings if you are going to whinge about the answers being too North American.
It's what you put on your salad if you want to turn it into a 1,500 calorie meal. But it's a requirement that you all your friends how much salad you've been eating recently and that you have a slow metabolism.
It's funny to me how nutrition and fitness is almost as contentious a topic, and maybe even more, than religion. Respond to someone posting about cross fit or the paleo diet or gluten or some non-existent thyroid disorder with the simple and firmly established science that is "calories in > calories out = weight gain" and you're in for a fight...
