Maybe accept just "horse"? Didn't know half as many in English as in my own language.

What happened to Trampoline? Is that it's own event?

Can you accept "asymmetric bars" - I've never heard it called uneven bars? S x

agree. asymmetric should be allowed, I tried spelling it upteen ways before giving up.

Further dumbing down of the populace. 'Asymmetric' is the best technical description but is harder to say and spell than 'uneven'. The definition of uneven is 'not level or smooth'. As both bars are clearly level and smooth, using uneven to describe them is wrong. Perhaps 'non-parallel' bars might be an alternate?

Mathematician here: they actually are parallel ;)

I kept trying uneven parallel bars, too. I never even realized they changed the name.

duh........they aren't even with each other, hence why they are called uneven bars.

They are also symmetric :)

Is that a regional thing? I'm American and I've never heard the term "asymmetric bars" used in gymnastics. It's always been "uneven bars."

"Asymmetric" sound as if they're deliberately meant to be that way. "Uneven" makes it sound as though they're just a bit crap :)

Even though I agree that I've always heard them called uneven bars, I also agree with you that it makes them sound like they were installed improperly or something. Like, "Darn, someone did a bad job putting up those gymnastics bars; they're totally uneven. Oh well, just do your best."

Must be a Britishism since the second Google autocomplete was "for sale UK". Asymmetric will work now.

I've NEVER heard them described as uneven bars. They are asymmetric bars.

I've NEVER heard them described as asymmetric bars. They are uneven bars. Official Olympic terminology agrees.

First sentence on Wikipedia: "The uneven bars or asymmetric bars is an artistic gymnastics apparatus."

I was mostly just kidding by copying @sussexval's response, but still: https://www.olympic.org/gymnastics-artistic/uneven-bars-women

I kept trying lipstick, glitter, mascara and rouge, but none of them worked. I thought these were requirements in the women's gymnastics.

Why is Freehand not an answer for Rhythmic Gymnastics? Is says in the description, event OR apparatus, not just apparatus or props
+2
Level 54

Freehand is not in the olympics- neither is rope, so this quiz is probably just out of date. But the creator was correct not to include freehand. I am a rhythmic gymnast myself. :)

I see that only 51% of people who have taken this test have gotten "horizontal bar" right. I am guessing that most of those who didn't get it right merely typed "high bar". I might have, too, if I hadn't done the work on Wikipedia, relating to the sport, that I have.

That's right, it's not about knowing the discipline, it's about knowing what it's called. (It's called asymmetric, by the way ;-) )
