i am pretty sure harry potter was born in 1990/1991 not 1980...

No because that's when the book takes place.

I have a lot of problems with this quiz... first of all, years are never stated in the books. All years that you may have found on the interenet are guesses, even if they are almost positively correct. So therefore, one can not state they are facts. Second of all, the "black boy, taller than ron" clue makes no sense if you do not know what the question is referencing. Third, "ginny wealsey's neice" could also be rose weasley, ron and hermione's daughter, making that question invalid also. And I am pretty sure there are some spelling and grammar mistakes in the uranis question, as the clue is not understandable.

happygrrl, while I agree with you on most of the points you make, one specific date IS mentioned in the books that lets us know the years. As per a Harry Potter wiki and after I re-read the books, I remember reading this: "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets gives us one concrete date: Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington (aka Nearly Headless Nick) celebrates the 500th anniversary of his deathday, which occurred 31 October 1492. Working from this, we can date nearly every event mentioned in the books." Thus, the second book has to be set in 1992, 500 years after Sir Nicholas died.

Proffesor Mcgonagall recruited Harry for quidditch, not Oliver Wood. And the norbert question should not have "a" in the answer, at least not without also accepting the answer without "a". Piers's last name is Polkiss. Mrs. Weasley is also "infatuated" with Celestia Warbeck, a favorite singer of hers.

To happygrrl, I changed everything to make it more understandable but also the last name of Piers doesn't matter in this situation. I won't accept just Polkiss.

the book was published in 1997 where do you get that it takes place in 1991. Also Professor McGonagall is the one who recruited Harry onto the Quidditch team. Also Ginny has two nieces why is only one accepted?
May 7, 2012  delete  reply
Because one of Ginny's nieces doesn't have a French name. Also I changed it so that she was also caught snogging Teddy Lupin.

What
Where have you found the exact birthdates of Harry and Voldemort?
May 30, 2012  delete  reply
hp-lexicon.com and the Harry Potter series written by JK Rowling if you haven't read them before.

I liked the quiz overall, but I don't think the "black boy" clue is very good. He's clearly credited as Dean Thomas in the other films, and just knowing the name of the actor who played Dean Thomas would be hard enough in itself... let alone trying to figure out what is meant by your clue.

Polkiss should be accepted on it's own, as last names are generally considered more imortant. Also, he's not necessarily his 'bvest friend (but he's the only one named, so fair enough). Also, it's McGonagoll who recruits Harry after she sees him catch Nevilles' remembrall. Voldemort's brithdate is not canon, as his age, or year ofbirth aren't mentioned in the books (unless I'm missing some of book 6).

5/15. I'm almost glad that I did poorly on this one, although it is considered "average". I'm a big Potter fan, but if I got some of these questions I clearly have too much free time.

Ron does NOT say "Can I see Uranus" at any point. He says "Can I have a look at Uranus too Lavender?" Maybe this is a difference in the US vs UK versions, but you should definitely accept the second option which is a direct quote from the book.
