"Pomeranian" should be "Pomerania".

Okay, I finally looked it up. The official name of the subdivision is Województwo Pomorskie - Pomeranian Voivodeship. Saying that "Pomeranian" should be "Pomerania" is actually incorrect. Pomerania is a region, like Patagonia or the Midwest, which stretches from northeastern Germany and along the coast of Poland. Defining the subdivision as "Pomeranian" is the correct way, since if I just said "Pomerania" that could include subdivisions in Pomerania, like "Pomeranian", "West Pomeranian" or "Kuyavian-Pomeranian" voivodeships in Poland or "Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania" state in Germany. "Pomeranian" is the official name of the voivodeship, so I don't know why you think that I should have used a different name than the official one.

That strikes me as odd. I mean, if we were referring to the Tibetan Autonomous Region, we wouldn't call it the "Tibetan", would we?
+2

No, because it's called Tibet Autonomous Region.

I disagree, officially it's also Italian/French/Hellenic republic, Russian Federation etc.

I cán see why he would think that, because you dídnt use the official name (just a part of it, which is nothing more than a demonym). Pomeranian is a demonym, so incorrect. You are right that Pomerania is a larger region that also includes a part of germany. But that doesnt make using pomeranian here correct. If you wanted to refer to a subdivision of Poland you should have used (west) Pomeranian Voivodeship.

While there are Tierra del Fuego provinces in both Argentina and Chile, there is neither a Salta province in Chile nor an Atacama or Valparaiso province in Argentina, making the questions valid.

"Makedonia Thraki" is quite a bizarre choice for Greece, these are generally thought to be two different regions. Maybe you mean the administrative division called "Eastern Macedonia and Thrace" (Anatoliki Makedonia kai Thraki)

Pretty easy. The ones you don't know you can guess based on spelling or sound.

I've seen the titles go both ways many times on this site, but I wonder, wouldn't it be better to call this Countries by Subdivision? Rather than subdivision by country?

'Makedonia Thraki' are two names for two separate geographical regions of Greece, which were never unified administratively. Maybe you mean 'Eastern Makedonia - Thraki' which used to be an administrative region, but not anymore.

Wow, great quiz. I was very surprised to discover the answers for some of these. I was convinced that Kaduna and Sokoto had to be Japan, but in reality it couldn't have been any more culturally distant. Same with Jura, I thought that maybe it was somewhere in central/west africa. Love when that happens.

I just noticed how the sub-divisions of Nigeria and Japan are surprisingly similar linguistically. For someone who doesn't know of either country's sub-divisions, Sokoto and Kaduna could pass off as Japanese, and Kanagawa and Gifu could pas off as Nigerian. Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kano, Naha, Saga, and Matsue are just more examples of sub-divisions from both that sound interchangeable.
