I put specticle for spectacled and I thought pandas weren't actually bears? Or did I just dream that?
May 21, 2012  delete  reply
No, panda's are bears. There used to be a bit of an issue as to whether they were "true" bears, but that's been settled. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panda#Classification

i like you site, but i think that it should be more scientific, based on confirmed and completely unquestionable facts. for example this quiz- there are more bear species, also there is a question, are all of ursidae family bears, or only ursus genera. i offer to quizmasters to keep quizes based on up-to-date scientific information, at least as much as it is possible

Sheesh. This site is for entertainment. You want that kind of rigor, there are plenty of scholarly journals out there.

Darn tootin'! I tried 15 different spelling versions of kodiak. And it's definitely a bear. Also, I think red pandas aren't bears. I hear they're pretty distantly related to giant pandas.

fun facts: The largest kodiak bear ever in captivity weighed over 1000 kg (2400 lbs). Big ones can be 3 meters (10 ft) tall. Think about that when you consider whether or not they're worth adding to this quiz. You're playing with your life.
