Researching how big these islands are, is very difficult. So if anyone know of other islands divided between at least two countries, and that are at least 50 km2 big, please let me know.

Dall Island appears to be wholly a part of United States. The island's southernmost point is the start of the line delimiting where Alaska and BC meet along the Alaska Panhandle, but none of the island's territory is in Canada.

Nice quiz, good concept. I got 23 but didn't know the names of the islands shared by Russia and China. It's strange how easy it is to forget such an obvious answer as Tierra del fuego! (I got it but only aftrer trying Chile and Argentina as possible countries).

Ah, you must be talking about either Kataja, Märket or Koiluoto. They're all really tiny, and I only include islands larger than 50 km2. Which island is divided by Denmark and Canada?

Possibly Hans? Although it's tiny (1.3 km2) and disputed rather than divided between Canada and Denmark (on behalf of Greenland)

But it is not really divided just claimed by both Denmark and Canada.

How about Cuba? U.S. base at Guantanamo.

I thought the same. If Cyprus is recognized as three different countries, Cuba should be on the list.

The Guantanamo base is not US territory in some legal sense. They're only renting the base from Cuba.

It's not really a rental when the landlord isn't allowed to stop renting it out. Cuba has been trying to reclaim the territory that they supposedly own since 1959 and hasn't accepted any payments since then. Also, in 1934, the US unilaterally changed the payment from gold coin to US dollars. Renters can't unilaterally alter their contract with their landlord. It's fun to pretend that the US is only renting, though!

they are only sovereign over the base, its not part of their territory tho

Fun quiz. Also accept Sint Maarten, which is the constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which is what the Dutch side of Saint Martin is known as?
+1
Level 71
Sep 24, 2021
It is already accepted.
+1
Level 76
Sep 24, 2021
No it's not. Sint Maarten is incorrectly accepted as a type-in for Saint Martin, the island, but it is not accepted for Netherlands, which it should be, because Sint Maarten, the Dutch half of that island, is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Oh, you mean like that. I'm using the Jetpunk definition of a country, so Sint Maarten is excluded. Now, this is a bit inconsistent since Northern Cyprus is included in this quiz, so I will have to make considerable changes. I need to think about how to organize this...
