Regarding the Steve McQueen / Pierce Brosnan clue -- the name of the character was "Thomas Crown," not "Thomas Crowne," and in the original version, he wasn't an art thief, but the mastermind behind at least two bank robberies.

There was rumor that Joseph Finnes would play Michael Jackson. It certainly hasn't happened yet and frankly I doubt that it ever will.

On schedule to begin filming soon.

The episode was filmed. Unfortunately, due to public backlash about the casting of Fiennes (who was probably much too black to play Michael Jackson), the episode was pulled from the season and will likely never air.

In light of this, I changed it to the Alec Baldwin/John Krasinski clue

Weird Al to my knowledge never played Gandhi. If you're thinking of the scene in UHF, that was the director of the movie, not Al.

Well... this is embarrassing. Surprised nobody else has caught this yet. I always thought that was Yankovic but, I looked it up, and you're right. Dang.

I've replaced it with Vito Corleone, pending QM's approval. I know he doesn't like to re-approve major changes once a quiz has been on the front page as it messes up everyone's points. But this was a pretty big mistake.

JGL being included in the Robin clue is a bit sketchy, whilst his character's first name is Robin he never dons the cape at any point, he's just a police officer.

yes, I know. Still... given that his name is revealed to be Robin, and that obviously he was intended as a.... interpretation... of the character withing the Nolan Bat-verse... I thought it was fair. Many comic book characters appear different from one version to the next. This was more of a departure than most....... but still qualifies I think.

The Al Pacino, Elizabeth Hurley, and Dave Grohl portrayals of the Prince of Darkness were all pretty different from one another, too, but we still recognize them as the same character. And as someone else pointed out in the comments above, the two versions of Larry Crown differ from one another, as well. This is inevitable in works of fiction.

The clues aren't comprehensive. Some of these characters have been played by literally hundreds of different actors over the years.
