Israel is home to many observant Muslims and Jews who do not eat pork at all, but still the country consumes 2.6 kg of pork per person annually. Still in the lower half, maybe even the lower quartile of countries in the world, but well above places like Saudi Arabia where the most succulent meat is outlawed completely, or Ethiopia where, in addition to having a large Muslim minority, most people don't have meat to eat at all.

In Tel Aviv a few weeks ago I saw this place, believe it or not. Out in the open on a major street. Reminded me of a bit from The Daily Show where they mentioned the closing of Israel's "Saturdays Only Porkatorium." I guess they were closer to being right than they probably guessed.

Why isn't Kuwait and Qatar or Bahrain on the quiz? I can see Kuwait being semi-open to letting people eat pork, but I am almost positive that no restaurant in Doha eats pork. I don't know much about Bahrain and have never been there so I can't say much except that I know they're Muslim.

Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE each have among the highest concentrations of expatriates of any countries in the world. These places are all built on slave labor (really or at least practically) from a variety of countries including many drawn from China and the Philippines where they love to eat pork. In Bahrain, where I've had an apartment the last two years, in the capital city Manama I think about 65% of the people there are expats. In Dubai only 13% of residents are Emirati. There are restaurants that will serve pork and grocers that will sell them, though in some areas they are hard to find.

I don't know. Maybe they prefer horsemeat.

In Mongolia, I guess, they never bred pigs. Traditionally it's mostly sheep, horses, camels, and in a less extent cows...

Some of the countries were quite surprising- wasn't expecting places like Comoros or India or Mongolia (especially Mongolia, they LOVE meat) to be on the list (I know India has a lot of vegetarians, but the big taboo meat for most of the country there is beef... you can't even legally slaughter cattle in most of the country). Also, I figured Israel would be on there, but was surprised to see it wasn't.

@Oxob3000- I don't think he was making a religious argument. Just a joke because he obviously loves pork. Catch yourself on.
