The average score is only 10. You could get 10 just by naming the 10 countries, wouldn't even have to know the names of any agencies, though literally everyone at least gets the CIA right.

That's exactly what I did to score 14. I knew Mi-6 from watching Mi-5 on Netflix, and remembered Mossad, although I had to Google to spell it correctly.

Interesting quiz, especially your information on Putin.

I always thought the KGB was Russia's intelligence division. 15/30

The KGB was for the USSR. After a failed coup in 1991, it was succeeded by other organizations. The coup was a response to Gorbachev's breaking up of the Soviet Union and moves toward democracy. The KGB didn't think it was a good idea. Putin was a KGB officer at the time. He resigned on the 2nd day of the attempted coup, later claiming that he was against it. Of course now he rules Russia as a despot, and some suspect he is trying to restore the Soviet Union or some semblance of it. Maybe we'll see the rebirth of the KGB sooner or later.

I can't believe somebody actually got the long name for the Mossad, and yet nobody has gotten the much simpler long form name for China's intelligence agency.

What about all those Nigerian hackers? Can't the government put them to use and get a few retirement checks from the U.S. flowing into their treasury?

The problem with the "general agreement" across sources is that they may all be copying from each other, and the original source may actually be weak.

could be.. but these rankings are not very controversial. There isn't actually much competition for this title.
