I suppose most people, like me, didn't know that Netflix won an Emmy, or even, like me, didn't really know what an Emmy was awarded for and didn't think of a company like Netflix as a recipient of one.

Many of the clues are not the most 'obvious' thing about the answer. Xerox, for example, is far better known for its printers.
