To be fair, it's really European fashion brands that everyone is after so I don't think any cities in Asia should be on here. Nobody cares about brand names from China, Singapore, Japan or Malaysia, they care about brands made in Italy, France, UK and Germany.
@gzx5 This is not a quiz about brand names. It is a quiz about fashion influence. If you don't think cities like Tokyo and Shanghai are influential and trend-setting, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't know much about fashion.
This seemed a bit of a silly, subjective, exercise so I checked the method they use to calculate these rankings, and it says: The study is a Big Data textual analysis based on billions of webpages, millions of blogs, the top 375,000 global print and electronic media, and new social media formats as they appear. In other words, they simply count up fashion mentions as they appear on the internet.
This was silly and subjective as compared to what? Most popular Pokemon? Best 100 bands and singers? Many of the quizzes here are subjective. You make wonderful quizzes - how would you do this one to make it less "silly"?
Probably be clear what is this quiz is measuring here: "Which cities have attracted most fashion-related mentions on the internet in 2015"? I think the Global Language Monitor was silly claiming that a city being talked about on the internet makes it a fashion "capital".
Let's keep in mind that fashion is inherently subjective. It is essentially what people want their outer image to look like. The more people emulate a certain style in increasing numbers the more it becomes fashion. Measuring the number of times a certain brand, design, or fashion item from a certain city has been mentioned, pictured, or talked about on the internet is not a bad way to go at it.
I suspect it is about the amount of fashion $$$ passing through those cities, hence population and purchasing power are important factors and you get Dubai, Shanghai and ...
This is pretty much a quiz about culture. New York, Rome, Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Dubai all have their own unique culture. I'm questioning Dallas because that is not the most cultural city, but everything else on here is. Saying Europe is the only place with fashion capitals is like saying Europe is the only place with culture, which is absolutely not true.
You may not consider Dallas to be a culturally important city, but it is definitely a fashion capitol. Dallas Fashion Week is a major event for designers and buyers from all over the USA, South and Central America. If you still don't believe it check it on Google with over 6 million results I think its safe to say fashion is important in and to Dallas.
