Google "Is Cyprus in Asia or Europe" and see the interesting discussions! Cyprus is part of the European Union and uses the Euro, although the Times Atlas and many other publications place it in Asia. Take your pick! For this quiz, we treat Cyprus as part of Asia.

That's not true. Cyprus is a country of its own. The northern part is occupied illegally by Turkish forces which have declared their independence as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, but this is not recognised by any country other than Turkey.

Cyprus is divided culturally, not politically.

The border control between two parts doesn't feel very cultural.

You may have noticed we ran for a day with a photo of Big Ben of London, then a day with the Little Mermaid from Copenhagen, to see if photos have any influence on the scores. On this quiz there wasn't - London held steady on 92%, and Copenhagen crept up from 46% to 48%.

I guess "everyone" is going to guess London anyway, maybe you could try the test again with a picture of Moscow and one of Athens and see if the improve

It helped me for sure. I had a few seconds to go and glanced at the picture and got Copenhagen in the last 5 seconds.

Half the time I don't even notice the photo (or the caveats.) Unfortunately the latter can often be problematic, the former not so much.

reached my target of 30. Much quicker if you envisage a map and move down/across it in a logical order rather than think of countries/capitals at random

Calling Ankara the capital of a European country is a bit of a stretch since that city is clearly in Asia, and such a small part of Turkey is in Europe. See answers above for discussion about Nicosia/Cyprus.
