This is amusing. How does one measure the IQ of fruits?
+9
Level 76
Apr 1, 2016
Measurements of responses to stimuli and whether those responses are considered intelligent. I suspect their inability to read, write or talk costs them a few points.

Guavas may be book smart, but they lack common sense and interpersonal skills. I think we need a better measure of fruit IQ.

Plums are smart. Why aren't they here?

Pluots (Plumcots) are better, I think.

Edit: Just saw ander217 mention plumcots after I posted.

Indeed, I don't believe that nonsense that cherries are more intelligent than apples and limes.

It's not all about grades. Cherries are straight-A students, but are sore losers and have poor social and problem-solving skills. Apples and limes are better friends to have

So when Luther Burbank created the plumcot it wasn't about taste, but really about making a smarter fruit? What I'd really like to see is a study on which fruits are the nicest. There are some really mean ones out there.

We already do (a year to the day before fruits, what a coincidence), despite it being a sillie idea. I've waited a long, long time to use that pun in a sentence. Do tell us how someone as smart as you acquired that name...

There was probably some racial prejudices in the test desing. We all know the results in these kind of tests are always affected by cultural biases and thus can not be considered as an accurate way of measuring actual, plain intelligence. I wonder when the oppression of blackberries would end in this country.

“While tomatoes are botanically berry-type fruits, they are considered culinary vegetables, being ingredients of savory meals.”

Could you add a caveat that states you're asking for culinary fruits? Because I lost two minutes trying to get the spelling of tomato right before giving up and trying other fruits. It would be in the top spot if included.

I'm not convinced of the validity of this testing. What was the criteria used? Was there any consideration given to level of ripeness of these fruits? Surely that would have an impact.

Cantaloupe. It is an extremely clever fruit. All wrinkly on the outside, but crisp and sweet and orange on the inside. And smart enough to NOT show up on the list. It likes to stay out of the limelight.

I question the methodology of this quiz. It's definitely biased toward stone fruits--why else would cherries, apricots, and peaches be so high? I mean, apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the apricots ever done for us???
