So now I have to learn all the names of the inlets of the seas north of Russia - lol
Challenging!!!!
One tiny thing that I would LOVE to happen but is completely unnecessary - is there any way you could add like three more lakes so there's an even 800 number of answers? Lol that would make me so happy :)
https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/1314339/bodies-of-water-on-the-world-map
It's a really high-quality quiz on its way to being featured that might have some ideas for water bodies you could use.
-the eastern coast of the Faroe Islands do not appear when I type Denmark-Norwegian, they only appear when I type Norway-Norwegian
-Northern Svalbard is still too thick
And plus, have you gave up on shading water border answers in blue?
Pretty happy with that, it just left northern Russia lit up like a Christmas tree.
My only nitpick would be to disregard terms such as sea/gulf/strait/bay etc. when alphabetizing the answers.
Fantastic challenge though.
Question #2: I don't and never will get the point of speed typing quizzes.
(Now that it's featured, I've got a gentleman's agreement with Quizmaster to only update this behemoth of a quiz like once every 2 years.)
This is not using your "multi-answer" method but typing each border out one by one.
I don't think I can be described as anything other than an average typist.
As for the Mediterranean, THIS. IS. INTENTIONAL. For the same reason that there is no border between the Atlantic Ocean and Mexico, i.e. there are smaller marginal seas that must be used instead.
Now. To open a new can of worms... not suggesting an edit to this one, but as a separate quiz, how would you feel about this quiz PLUS all the maritime borders as well? E.g. in this quiz Grenada only borders the Atlantic and the Caribbean, but it also maintains maritime borders with St Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela...
Sidenote: however i tested and i think both Cenderawasih and Cendrawasih work
Also this geography quiz is excellent. I finally managed to score 799/799 on this quiz.
Overall great job, keep it up
Some r definitely easier to remember than others to remember. n some more complex names I only remember half of. for example, african lakes like edward, albert, and victoria r much easier to remember than, say, lake tanganyika. Because I already knew africa was colonized by the british, a majority of that area specifically. So big name english rulers r easier to recall, especially for a history nerd lol. also, lake turkana, surprisingly easier to remember than u's think. I just thing "that starts with a t. t=turk and vertical lake=straightish=oh yeah, katana=turkana. Typing that out, i realize just how dumb of a pneumonic it actually is lol.
I once accidentally commented "pneumatic" on this site instead of mnemonic, so don't feel bad at all :)
nooooooooooooooooooooo
On another note, is there any reason why Yenisey Gulf is included in Khalmyer Bay? It's the larger gulf to the east of Khalmyer. Wikipedia pages for the two are here and here.
I had Yenisey in some variations of the map, but it ultimately fell below the "it still needs to be at least kind of fun" threshold.
I just took the quiz again and I think Argentine Sea and Uruguay is missing. Research suggests the Argentine Sea touches Uruguay as well as the UK (Falklands) and Argentina.
All that to say, there are reasons for statistical variances, and coming in accusing people of cheating is a bad look.
The Levantine Sea is what you were missing. Try not to fall into the fallacy of thinking that because you don't know something the quiz must be poorly designed.
Two suggestions:
-Lake Michigan is entirely located within the United States and is not an international border
-I don't know if you considered river borders between countries, but there are a few between the United States and Canada that aren't included right now. These include the St. Clair River, the Detroit River, the Niagra River/Niagra Falls, and a portion of the St. Lawrence River.
A separate quiz for rivers that make up international borders could be a fun and challenging topic for a separate quiz!
1. The Garagobazkol Basin and Lake Maracaibo are similar to Lake Michigan, in that they could be ignored. But the map looks wrong without them, so all three are in. There has been a lot of discussion on these in the comments above.
2. Can you imagine if one had to name all the rivers as well? half of the countries that border each other wouldn't anymore, a la Tanzania and DR Congo.
Yeah, considering this quiz now.
Amazing quiz!
One of my favorites on Jetpunk.
I'm also on a 34 inch 4k 21:9 monitor, so maybe that has something to do with it.
