Please use the honour system and only type the ones you have been to as to not mess up the stats.
Type United Kingdom instead of UK, Niger1 for Niger, Guinea1 for Guinea, ROC for the Republic of Congo, DRC for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and DR1 For the Dominican Republic
Well, it depends how big your country is and how easy it is to get out. There's an awful lot to see in some quite small countries. Even the variety just in Luxemburg I find quite amazing.
Really cool idea! Might I suggest adding the continents in the answers. Some people like to study them ;) ow and i accidentally added finland oops., we did a scandinavian trip, but not through finland
At 19 countries, I've hit almost 10%. Definitely need more. I did hit 2 1%-ers: Grenada and St Vincent. Both on the same tall ship cruise. Costa Rica and the Adriatic coast on the top of my list for future trips...
Great idea, though I disagree layovers should count. But since they do I also added North Korea because I crossed over to the North Korean side of the conference room at Panmunjom. If I discount that, plus a layover in Brunei, the most uncommon country I've actually visited is Mongolia.
In some cases layovers and other brief visits make perfect sense. For example, close to no one stays overnight in places like Monaco or Vatican and if you spend a few hours between flights exploring a city, you may well get the full picture of the place. Talking about smaller cities there, of course, and then again, you can spend a lifetime in some bigger cities and still know close to nothing of the place.
I interpreted "layover" to mean that you didn't leave the airport. I've technically spent longer in Brunei (a hellish 12-hour layover) than I have in Andorra, the Vatican or even Singapore, but I'd never say that I've "been to Brunei." Airports are a Gibsonian nowhereville. But yeah, if you leave the airport and wander around the city for a few hours, I think that counts as having been to a country.
I have been to French Polynesia but not France. I typed France in anyway, but JoshuaHines may want to clarify if territories count as being in the country.
I personally know more people in real life who have been to Bhutan (2) than the DRC (0) or Comoros (0). I think it's pretty stupid to have exceptions like this when the entire quiz relies on the trust system to begin with.
38! I am more well travelled than I thought. Most of them only for a day, I have to confess.
I am surprised to see Mauritius and the Maldives on the zero list, since I thought they were quite popular holiday destinations. I thought Italy might be a little higher too
Yes I have been to the Maldives as well (swank swank) although I forgot it the first time round and had to do it again. It was only seeing it on the list that reminded me.
Also if i do end up taking this quiz you might want to make North Korea acceptable as i plan to go there in four years. I read in another comment that it isnt an accepted answer.
The most surprising 0% country I see is either Seychelles or Sierra Leone. I covered 3 countries, but solely thanks to one cruise so...I need to travel a bit more
Interesting. I've only really been to 4 countries, but one of them is Bangladesh which is pretty low.
Why no Bhutan though? I get that North Korea and Nauru are both pretty hard to visit, but Bhutan gets quite a few tourists, especially from India and other Asian countries. You never know, it's possible someone on this site has been there.
Most common, US. Least common, Latvia, Lithuania and Cuba. Need more Canadians to take this quiz; Cuba is a popular tourist destination here -- far cheaper than the rest of the Caribbean. I went through the north-east corner of Belarus (3%) in 1991 on a night train from Moscow to Vilnius but I didn't count it. Most common that I have yet to be is Switzerland, but I have gone around it. Was planning to go Ireland in 2020.......
If this quiz is functioning as just a survey, why not give it adequate time for people to answer? The survey is no good at all if people can't finish. Give it the maximum 60 minutes; it's okay with this one to let people think a minute.
I did not count Canada or El Salvador. As for Canada, I only went to the border checkpoint (Canada side) and back, and El Salvador was airplane layover for the 2 times I went to Peru.
In addition, I've been to St. Martin/Sint Maarten, Grand Cayman, and US Virgin Islands. As for my home country, I've currently been to 30 states, so at least I travel within this large country.
Least common one I have been to: Iceland
Most visited (not including Indonesia) : Singapore (7 times)
Malaysia : 6 times
Least visited : Thailand (1 time)
which means Tuvalu, Marshall islands and Kiribati will go up 0.3%
Least common one I have been to: Bahrain
Least common: Paraguay 3%
Least : Vanuatu
Least common one is San Marino.
San marino is awesome btw.
Never been outside europe though
Easiest quiz ever!
Most common was the US and least common was Paraguay (even harder than Andorra hahaha).
I am surprised to see Mauritius and the Maldives on the zero list, since I thought they were quite popular holiday destinations. I thought Italy might be a little higher too
Least common: Qatar and San Marino
My least common - Canada
(Start : Singapore - Malaysia - Thailand - Middle of the Sea - Singapore : Finish)
Why no Bhutan though? I get that North Korea and Nauru are both pretty hard to visit, but Bhutan gets quite a few tourists, especially from India and other Asian countries. You never know, it's possible someone on this site has been there.
1. The US Government literally warns you not to go there
2. North Korea probably censors jetpunk or anything they dont trust so there are likely no users who play this quiz in North Korea
2. You can actually go and visit North Korea, and just because you can't play jetpunk there doesn't mean.. that you cant say you've gone there...
Least common: Armenia, Mongolia & Kosovo
Cool "quiz"!
The least common I've been to: USA
I need to get out of the US at some point
Least common: Nicaragua
