I remembered how hard it apparently is to find good-looking women in the UK. Can't believe anyone ever actually liked the Spice Girls... I missed that one and Duckman.

... and every woman outside the UK apparently is so good looking of course. Spice Girls not overly talented but they made a mint out of it. Geri was hot!

The British produce the most beautiful women in the world!

@Roger: I just mean, for a group that was *obviously* not chosen for their musical talents, they sure weren't very attractive, either. Geri is a good example. Uglier than old Britney Spears. And Posh? So many people seemed to think she was the hottest one in the group but she had a face like the luck dragon from Neverending Story and a body that was just gross. Surely they could have done better?
@Jenkins: one more on the growing list of things we'll just have to disagree on. Beautiful women can be found everywhere but, most beautiful in the world? I think the UK ranks about 150th-170th on that list, honestly. Of course, that might just be me and beauty is in the eye of the beholder so...

Luckily Teri Hatcher was on the list to make up for it. Loved the "real and spectacular" clue.

@What: can almost guarantee you they would not. Hateful remarks about Americans stay up far more often than anything said about non-Americans. And comments ripping on pop musicians tend to stay up regardless.

Of course, they have to work with who showed up for the auditions, too. When I was in college, I worked for a company that produced beauty pageants in NYC. I'd spend an entire Saturday interviewing girls who'd come in interview for entry and maybe one or two would be what I considered "pretty" and then, on the train ride home, I'd see at least ten better looking women who just didn't happen to be aspiring beauty queens.

KAL. If it was possible to put photographs on this site, perhaps everyone could judge how good looking you are. Very often, it's men who are unattractive who make comments like this, because of their insecurities.

Kal, I've tried writing a reply four times to your outrageous comments about "good-looking women" and ranking them worldwide, but I don't think anything I say can make you understand how insulting that was to women of any country, not just the UK. I give up.

Helen: I'm not insecure. I know how attractive I am. I wouldn't have been a good choice for the Spice Girls, either. I think it's more often those who get defensive in response to such comments that are feeling insecure.
ander: that's because nothing you say can alter the fact that comments aren't insulting. People reading comments are insulted. There's an important difference there.
Don: thank goodness you're here.
Crusher: good ol'... whoever you are... member of the chorus of nitwits, mistaking what is obviously a statement of opinion for a declaration of fact. "I think"... "the might just be me"... you failed every English test you had on context clues didn't you?

Thought exercise to prove any offense here comes from your reaction to what you read, not from what you read:

Ask yourself if these 3 assumptions are fair:
1. Some people are more attractive to you than others.
2. If you consider everyone in a population, you can figure out an average for that population.
3. If you compare these averages to one another, some will be higher or lower than others.

If you agree with those 3 assumptions, then if you were honest you could have said the same thing I did.
If you think you don't agree with those 3 assumptions you are not being honest with yourself. Or you're some white knight trying to virtue signal.

Incidentally gender is totally irrelevant to this point.

I don't know about that...Ginger and Scary were both pretty good looking, if you ask me, and Elizabeth Hurley was (probably still is) one of the prettiest women I've seen. I'll agree about Victoria Beckham, though...I never got that one. To each their own, and all that, but she never did anything for me. People can say men are shallow, but if you get a few drinks in a group of women and get them going on good/bad looking guys, they're just as rough. People like what they like, and don't like what they don't like, and it isn't the exact same for any two people, so get over it.

It's a pretty sad statement about the world when truth gets labeled as trolling. Reality has become offensive.

bkemp: I liked "Scary" followed by "Sporty." But my point above was simply that for a group obviously selected for looks before talent, they scored remarkably low in the former category.

I'm not going to put a disclaimer before every message wherein I state an opinion for fear that some dimwit isn't going to be able to tell the difference between fact and opinion. If someone is that determined to be a twit, there's not much I can do to stop them. Just see above where I *very* clearly stated that I was stating an opinion (something that shouldn't even be necessary, ever, but I did so anyway just out of politeness), and some colossal moron came along and complained that I was stating opinions as fact regardless.

Believe me: the facepalming has begun quite a while ago. March 10, 2014, to be precise. In any case, I won't bother commenting on this thread anymore. I (and a lot of Jetpunkers) clearly have a different view than you on this one. But before I leave, let me just point something out: several comments criticizing your apparent rudeness and lack of judgement have garnered quite a few +1s whereas none of your seemingly rational and logical explanations have. Might be something to ponder here...
