Column 1 - 7 years...Column 2 - 38 years. Very telling statistic regarding how pass heavy we have gotten.

Fitting that the Bears are missing from this list. The curse of Jim McMahon (and Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton, Jay Cutler...).

surprisingly no Joe Montana here. He and Brady are just products of genius coaches. Put Brady on the Jaguars, he wouldn't even make the playoffs.

Can you even name the WRs that were on the SB winning teams Brady was on? I doubt you can get 5 without looking it up.

i could get five because im an avid pats fan Edelman, randy moss, danny amendola, troy brown, and david patten

You can refer to the first comment here. A quiz like this is skewed heavily toward recent pass-heavy offenses. Russell Wilson won the Super Bowl last year, but he doesn't have to rack up 4000 yards to do so.

It's the rule changes that have been made that led to the pass-happy offenses, which have led to the inflated passing stats. You used to be able to destroy QBs anywhere/anytime and mug WRs all the way down the field. (which is why a QB like Johnny Unitas doesn't get the credit he deserves)

It puts Tarkenton's record in a new light, doesn't it? He racked up yards unlike anyone before him.

No Brady fan here, but that comment is just ridiculous. These two (and Peyton) were the last guys you'd want facing your team with the ball on their own 10 and 2 minutes left.

Considering the rules changes of 1978 made the game much more passer friendly, it makes Namath's 1967 total that much more impressive.

Drew Brees very underrated, He is one of those greats that never gets attention because his team fails him and he plays with Manning and Brady. He has the 2nd most 4,000 yard seasons and most 5,000 yard seasons.
+1
level 79

Brees has generally been considered a Top 5 QB pretty much every year for the past 10-12 years. He's an 11-time pro bowler, 2-time offensive player of the year, and a Super Bowl MVP. It's true he's never won a regular season MVP, and yeah, that's largely the fault of playing at the same time as guys like Brady, Manning, and Rodgers, but I wouldn't call that "very underrated." He'll be a HoFer on the first try, same as the rest of those guys.
