The movie clue could have been read two ways - I was trying to think of who could make an r-rated movie and I was confused whether it was asking for a name or a specific kind of director. Perhaps something like "Can change a movie's rating from PG to R' would have made it more clear for me, but apparently most people understood it.
Same. I kept wondering who makes R movies, or who classifies them as such. Less confusing clue: "something that would make a movie R-rated in the U.S."
Didn't like the clues, or the unaccepted answers. Deadly place in Psycho -- Bates Motel. Butch Cassidy or Robin Hood -- bandits, robbers, thieves. PG-13 -- cursing, foul language. Job title from Pretty Woman -- prostitute.
The quiz title says the answers have to be 6 letters and its a chain. Bates Motel is 10 letters and doesn't begin with "S". Bandit or robber fits for 6 letters but it doesn't fit the chain to begin with an "O". Cursing and foul language are both more than 6 letters. And prostitute is as well. I agree some clues are vague but the answers all fit.
No kidding, Arp2600! I think ked2313 showed amazing grace and restraint in her/his answer. I was just gonna write, "Seriously?" or "Duh?" You are a model JetPunk citizen, ked :-)
To give Quizmaster some positive feedback: I think the clues were awesome, ASSUMING you paid attention to the fact that this quiz is a 6-letter chain! I don't consider myself a big movie buff, but the only one I didn't get was the PG-13 one. I think what might have thrown people off was that Rated R one had nudity as the answer. I realized, after the fact, that after I had in my mind that nudity would get you an R, I could not possibly imagine that a nipple would get you a PG-13. What body part of "nudity" would get an R if not a nipple? They show butts on TV. And I think full frontal still gets you an NC-17, no?
I thought it was pretty simple and the clues were fine. I struggled with the Japanese mafia one, but I worked around it and ended up getting it last with knowing the first and last letters.
I got the answer from the first and last letters, but it was definitely spaghetti. Just check out the movie poster. They are sharing a big platter of spaghetti and meatballs in front of Tony's Restaurant.
Yes they were definitely eating spaghetti. Broadly I guess pasta would be an acceptable answer. Or the singular spaghetto, but that has a near zero use in english.
Noodles are asian and are not served with pastasauce and meatballs..
Spaghetti is commonly defined as "a long, thin, solid, cylindrical noodle pasta." Pieces of spaghetti are often called spaghetti noodles, at least in the US. Noodles are not limited to Asian cuisine, and in fact the word itself derives from German, according to Wikipedia.

But that was before I read the directions...
