I came down here to be snarky about the title saying "glitters" instead of "glisters", followed by something sarcastic that mocked Shakespeare purists, but the very first comment beat me to it!

I was also pleasantly surprised.

JRR Tolkien also said "All that is gold does not glitter", which is quite neat, in this poem.

All that is gold does not glitter,

Not all those who wander are lost;

The old that is strong does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

The crownless again shall be king.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, could you accept, and preferably display, the actual name of the Church?

We do accept LDS and Latter-Day Saints.

... neither of which is the name of the church.

Mormon is a lot quicker to type though :)

And "Mormon" is an acceptable type-in. So is "LDS" or "Latter-Day Saints." Still, to plattitude's point, none of those are the actual name of the church.

I agree as well. It should certainly accept the shorter type ins, but should display The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Sort of a pedantic point, but I think "Mormon" or "LDS" are more accurate answers, as there are other churches outside of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that view the Book of Mormon as scripture, such as the Community of Christ and Bickertonites. Even though they are much smaller than and not recognized by the main church, Mormonism is a term more encompassing of the religious movement as a whole.

Perhaps a bit pedantic, but Goldfinger didn't want to rob Fort Knox. He wanted to detonate a dirty bomb inside the fort to make the gold radioactive and therefore unusable, which would decrease the supply of gold and increase the value of the gold he already had.

If you wanted to make the quiz out of 20..

Golden Balls is a nickname for David Beckham and you could add a question asking for the the chemical symbol

Except that you accidentally get the question about the chemical symbol when you type Australia for Q9, so it's just a freebie.

Pro tip: if the question is asking "who coined...?" answer Shakespeare and you'll usually be right.

Nov 16, 2021
Of course, the better question would be who coined the phrase "all that glitters is not gold", since that's the phrase that people actually quote.

Didn't we just barely have a featured quiz in which all sorts of quotes were denied attribution to their ostensible authors because someone else had said something similar earlier? Wikipedia lists a variety of predecessors to Shakespeare on this glistering statement.

Perhaps the chemical symbol question should precede the Victoria Gold Rush question to avoid the freebie
