My exact question I was coming to post.

I thought maybe they were looking for Cap'n Crunch.

Admittedly, it's a stretch, but I could've sworn Hank Aaron was involved with the promotion of Oh Henry! bars when he was chasing the home run record.

Also fans in Montreal used to throw Oh Henrys on the field after Henry Rodriguez would hit a home run

13/24. I'm a fat kid. I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of those saccharine valentines hearts, even though I'm sure I'm the only person who actually likes the taste of them.

I remembered the name though I used to get them confused with Sweet Tarts. You probably are the only one who likes Sweethearts. I've grown from disgusted with the taste to indifferent.

I have often seen them just sold as candy hearts. Sweethearts is just one brand of them. Also, to me they taste like chalk.

I thought for sure it was Captain Crunch. I almost remember the brand "Pirate Booty" now that it is revealed, but it almost seems made up for a movie/tv show or a cheap generic brand at best.

I did this too! I tried it several times. I could have sworn there was a damn "e" in there (besides the other one, thank you). And I too looked it up and was surprised to see it's actually "strudel." Sigh. Oh well.

And here I thought slim jims were beef (or horse)
+1
Level 77
Oct 18, 2015
They actually do contain more beef than chicken, and that's why I missed it. I didn't know they contained any chicken at all and since beef wasn't mentioned (and since I never heard of Macho Man) I never considered Slim Jim.

You would know it's Krackel if you ever got those bite-sized variety packs that they have around Halloween with all the Hershey's types in them. In fact I've never had a Krackel or Mr. Goodbar or Special Dark any other way.

Baby Ruths are not named after Babe Ruth.
+3
Level 77
Jan 17, 2019
Yeah, the official story is that they were named after President Grover Cleveland's daughter Ruth, whose birth between his terms of office was big news, as was her death at age 12. But consider: The bars were introduced and named in 1921, 24 years after Cleveland had left office and 17 years after his daughter had died. Meanwhile, Babe Ruth had started getting attention as a pitcher and home run hitter for the Red Sox in 1919, and his popularity exploded with the Yankees in 1920.

So it's a matter of what's more likely: genuinely named after someone popular nearly 30 years earlier and dead for 17, or named for one of the most famous athletes in the country at the time (but changed just enough and given just enough of a plausible explanation so they didn't have to pay him anything.)

The hint for wheat thins is extremely triggering and offensive to people who suffer from body dysmorphia and/or an eating disorder. I know it was a joke and you meant no harm, but could you please change it? Many thanks :)

I grew up on most of these (except Nutella, which isn't American, wasn't available here until the '80s, and didn't gain widespread popularity til much later; thank the Lord we finally discovered it). But I've never heard of Pirate's Booty before. Seriously I typed Cap'n Crunch 3 or 4 times before giving up, because that's the only quasi-pirate-related thing I could think of.

I agree with the Cap'n Crunch. After trying different spellings I moved on. Heard of Pirates Booty but don't think I ever tried it.
