It's a better idea to learn to spell things correctly, rather than hoping to get away with spelling everything incorrectly.

Sure, but a bit of consistency wouldn't go amiss.

Where I come from it's called Bagdad so I can understand that but Beckham isn't called Beckam anywhere in the world. Even though certrain accents make it sound that way.

I always find it amusing that only 7 prisoners were released in the storming of the Bastille. They were robbers and fraudsters, a great asset to the revolution.

But throughout history, symbols and symbolic acts are often just as important as the actual events.

Plus, the constant propaganda and literature in the years preceding it about how many prisoners there supposedly were, the crimes they were accused of and the horrific conditions they were supposedly kept in, led a lot of people to believe that there would be more. The presumed conditions in the Bastille were a symbol even before the storming.

Also, the stockpiles of guns and cannons that were "released" were pretty useful, I guess.

Also, the "oppresing" military force inside decided that they don't want to make a massacre by firing into unarmed civilians and surrendered...

Only to be massacred by said civilians.

Thanks for adding the part about “the first born son of the above answer.” As a Brit I would have had no clue with a purely Baseball question.

I think the bicorn (specifically the side to side, rather than the fore and aft) is a stereotypically french hat, especially of their gendarmerie.

Nitpick: "baritone" is not a singing register. Examples of vocal registers are falsetto or vocal fry. Baritone, soprano, bass, etc. are classical voice types that are connected to certain vocal ranges. Not registers.

The bengal tiger is no longer considered a subspecies; just a population of tiger.

Somehow didn't think of beret. I guessed bicorne and moved on

lol...all the folks saying "bicorne".Yes, because the average frenchman was wearing these on a daily basis (heavy sarcasm). The bicorne was a military hat. The beret on the other hand was and is common throughout France.

I've lived in France and been to every region. I can't ever recall seeing someone wearing a beret. Definitely stereotypical though
