When I saw the Twilight clue, I first typed "Sporks", but then I realized that's the town's name in Vampires Suck, not Twilight. XD

That movie looked like it might actually be worse than the one it was parodying, but that's pretty funny.

We drove through Forks this summer. It seemed like a nice little town - no sign of vampires or werewolves, but we were through there during daylight hours.

So you weren't looking for any sparkling Robert Pattinsons?

Is it not Darkly Dreaming Dexter?

I don't think it says anywhere in The Metamorphosis where the story takes place. Prague is kind of an assumption.

Agreed, the location is not specified in the novella, it could be Prague, it could be anywhere else. Not a good choice for this quiz.

Great idea. I hope you'll do a series of these. Thanks.

I spelt Kyoto wrong and was just typing Troy when time ran out. So frustrating. Good quiz though, a few tricky ones in there

That happened to me too! I was able to type "Tro" and then the time was up.

The Metamorphosis by FRANZ Kafka, not Frank.

Metamorphosis by Frank Kafka is set in Yakima, Washington, I believe. During apple season, of course,

Franz in his native-German and in Czech, but more-or-less always known in English as Frank - so the quiz is fine as it is.

No he's not, he's always known as Franz. Perhaps you're thinking of Frank Capra?

I never ever heard him called "Frank!" My book says "Franz," as well.

It's definitely Franz, unless you think we should also change Boccaccio's first name to John. If you Anglicize it, at least make it Francis Kafka.

Just like Archduke Frank Ferdinand, huh?

Never heard of Forks.

Forks is a small town out on the Olympic Peninsula. Great place to stay if you like walking on beautiful rainy/cloudy sandy beaches, hiking through rainforests, and eating lots of salmon. Get away from it all, only a few hours from Seattle, via ferries, a little longer to Victoria.

Only missed 'Twilight' and 'Fault in Our Stars'. The latter I had no idea, the second I had a general sense it was in the Pacific Northwest, so tried Seattle and Portland and then gave up.

It should totally say "Any Book by James Joyce" for Dublin

"where these books took place": this is going to be hard to define. Anna Karenina definitely also involves Moscow and country estates far from the cities. Big up for Joe Wright's film version, one of the best films I have ever seen.

The characters visit Amsterdam for a significant chunk of The Fault In Our Stars.
