Finished with 2 minutes left, but I feel like Russia could have better clues

(Siberia, communism, boiled potatoes, etc.)

+5
Level 55
May 20, 2015
Agree. Of all the clues to give for Russia...! Even like "big and cold" would have sufficed.

Level 64

Lol
+3
Level 50
Aug 9, 2018
There is no longer communism in Russia. I can only imagine the comments if that were the clue.

I don't know, I like the current difficulty with it and the variety in challenge is good.

Being myself a proud Bulgarian, I have to say Greeks may have yog(h)urt, but it originates in our country - as the bacteria used to produce it goes - Lactobacillus Bulgaricus. :)

I agree, I have always known yogurt to be bulgarian

Yoghurt originates in ancient Mesopotamia thousands of years before Bulgaria or Greece existed. It also spread very early to India.
+1
Level 16
May 20, 2015
Nice quiz, would really like to se more!
+11
Level 84
May 20, 2015
This quiz is way too earth-centric. How about including some countries for the rest of the solar system...
+11
Level 49
May 20, 2015
You and your Milky Way propaganda! As a member of this universe, I think this quiz is way too centered on your so-called "solar system.' Andromeda...anyone ever heard of it?

22/22 with 2:22 left. Something poetic about that
+8
Level 55

Something about it being two profound for words.
+3
Level 25
May 20, 2015
I feel that every time a quiz has the word "America" or any of its characteristics, the comments get spammed with how "everyone" hates the country. Don't hate on us because we are large, highly populated, and have a great economy. And if you are really that jealous of the country then why don't you just pack up your bags and move here?
+9
Level 68
Sep 21, 2016
I don't hate America. And I am not jealous. I am happy and grateful to be living in New Zealand, the land of Hobbits.
+4
Level 82
Aug 9, 2018
It's an inferiority complex which manifests outwardly as a superiority complex. The guy complaining in the comments above is clearly suffering from this. The frequency and nature of the complaints leave only one plausible explanation.
+4
Level 50
Aug 9, 2018
Relbore, by making that comment you have just initiated a discussion about America, exactly what you claim to have been trying to avoid.....
+6
Level 72

Looks like some prior comment has timed out. But I think Relbore you may be confusing jealousy and envy.

This isn't one of those "I would have made the quiz different, rawr rawr rawr" comments, but was anyone else surprised to not see China? I mean, you got Mongolia, India, Japan, but not China?
+5
Level 68

Well, there are 196 countries... I was extremely surprised and pleased to see New Zealand there!

How is yogurt related to Greece? It was invented in Central Asia (or perhaps the Middle East or India), its name comes from Turkish and until the 20th century, it was popular in the entire Ottoman Empire and elsewhere, not just Greece. Or is there an English proverb or phrase or such about Greek yogurt? For example, I hadn't heard of Greek yogurt until just now.

Decent quiz, though most of my amusement came from reading the ridiculous comments. What does yogurt have to do with Greece? Germany isn't the only country with beer! Please tell me those comments came from children.

Greek Yoghurt. First thing I associated.
+3
Level 59
Aug 9, 2018
Good grief - a basic quiz and people can't get the concept: there are three clues for each country and they are to be taken together. No one is saying that beer, for example, is purely and solely a German thing.

Tierra del Fuego is a province from argentina. It should have been something like ''Magallanes and Antartica Chilena'', which it is really from Chile. Please, correct it.
+3

To Cyanidecarrot: The USA's ultimate downfall will be because it keeps sticking its nose into other countries' affairs and routinely gets stabbed in the back as thanks. If we adhered to the Monroe Doctrine we would

not have this problem. Let all of those who so gleefully criticize the USA at the slightest provocation (such as on these quiz sites), fend

for themselves, and let us mind our own business for once.

+3
Level 67
Aug 9, 2018
The Monroe Doctrine was implemented at a time when the world was more fractured. International relations are more complicated now, and countries are inextricably linked. If the economy of Europe tanks, it will affect the US. The US brands its intervention as "humanitarian aid" because it's good PR, but most of its intervention has a practical purpose. Becoming a hermit state in the 21st century is not beneficial.
+1
Level 37
Oct 10, 2018
jmellor: Though I agree that too often US intervention in foreign affairs is more self-serving than altruistic it would, nonetheless, be interesting to see how well the non-NATO countries survive without it.

Winter Olympics clue makes it sound like Norway hosts them every time, when they've only hosted two, last ones in 1994. USA has hosted four and France three.
+3
Level 76
Aug 9, 2018
Sure, but Norway has won more Winter Olympics medals than any other country by a pretty comfortable margin, so associating the two is pretty reasonable.
