When i search on google images of Socotra (Yemen), the image of what you say is Madagascar is the 6th on appearing. Are you sure that it is from Madagascar?
@nathaniel trees of the genus boababs yes, but not the species shown in the picture, you can find mountains anywhere too, but the one in the picture is only in switzerland.
The one that is widespread in mainland africa is also known as the monkeybread tree.
That's hilarious. This specific tree is endemic to Madagascar. The source that uses the photo to promote a trip to Socotra shows you something you will definitely not see. You'd see similar trees but not this one.
I havent found any references of the trees shown in the picture growing anywhere outside of madagascar, I checked to be sure. All the sources I find say it is found only in western madagascar
Plus there are only 8 species of boabab 6 of which are madagacar(ean/ic/oninan?) but they dont look anything like the picture imo. So there is no contest here. only similarity is a broad trunk. But the ones in the picture "adansonia grandidieri" are instantly recognisable.
The fact that there are other species of boabab does not even matter, it is a picture quiz, so the other species in mainland africa an australia are irrelevant anyway.
That's exactly what I did. I kept on thinking it was East Africa like Kenya or Tanzania but when that didn't work I tried a lot of other African countries. Never thought of Madagascar :P
Madagascar was the first country that came to my mind and I'm not specialized in botany. Baobabs and Lemurs are the first things I associate with Madagascar. Maybe you should watch some documentaries to extend your knowledge or you know.... just watch the DreamWorks Madagascar movie because there are plenty of Baobabs in King Juliens Kingdom.
It is from the most western side of Mongolia which is Bayan-Olgii province. Around 100K Kazakhs lives in Mongolia. 80K of them lives In Bayan-Olgii province, so that makes sense right?
i thought the carnival one was brazil, and the monestary was russia and the third one i'm so annoyed i guessed everything but italy, and the mountin one i thought was norway because it looked like a fjored
